BFV Movie

Check out this amazing Battlefield Vietnam movie. It's truly one of the best I've ever seen, and I guarantee you will love it.

This is a 15 minute long theatrical piece created in Battlefield Vietnam. Probably one of the best Machinima for the game to be created, this follows a group of American soldiers fighting to survive after their helicopter has been shot down by the Vietnamese.

Dawn Of The Rising Sun

The Dawn Of The Rising Sun community project has released their website along with several images of their community map. Check it out.

So you've played Battlefield 1942 until your fingers are numb and your eyes are popping out of your head, yet you still feel this revolutionary game is missing something. You're right! The "Dawn of The Rising Sun" is a community project in an effort to build a lag free, objective based map (Japanese must sink ships in harbor to win), with Single Player support based on the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This will be a stand alone Battlefield 1942 map with Merciless Creations custom textures, various custom models, the absolute best bot support provided by the Battlefield Single Player community, destroyable objects, etc.

We have talked to a few mods and came to discover that many want to help us with this community project. If you or your mod would like to get involved, visit our Staff page to find out how to contact either Mental Merlin, or BumbleBee. You can also find us in our forum provided by the Battlefield Single Player website.

You can learn more about this project and view many more screenshots of the map up til now at our website:

Be sure to view our Links page to view the contributors who are helping to make this project possible.

New steam update

Steampowered.com Have just announced that a new update has been released for cs source and the source engine itself

Here is an extract from thier website

Counter-Strike: Source, Source Engine, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Update Available
February 24, 2005, 5:21 pm · cliffe
Counter-Strike: Source, Source Engine, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch updates are available and will be applied automatically when Steam is restarted. The changes include:

Counter-Strike: Source

* New hostage rescue map cs_compound
* Added Source version of de_train
* Upgraded version of the CT player model
* Location names are shown in radio/team chat, and under the radar
* Server tickrate can be specified with -tickrate
* Added radio command aliases
* Added mp_humanteam cvar [any | ct | t] (forces human players onto specified team - useful for humans vs bots)
* Added new "match" mode for bot_quota -- If bot_quota_mode = "match", bot count = (human count) * bot_quota
* Bots no longer automatically follow humans (bot_auto_follow now defaults to 0)
* Bots are balanced before humans with mp_autoteambalance
* Bots can open simple +use doors
* Bots change their names to match the prefix when bot_prefix changes
* Several improvements to bot behavior when paths become blocked -- solves problems specific to cs_havana
* Bots won't throw grenades if something is blocking their throw
* Bots are better at only breaking objects that are in their way
* Fixed bug where a bot occasionally "dithered" rapidly between two or more targets without firing
bot_kick and bot_kill console commands use the bot's base name without the bot_prefix
de_piranesi - bots avoid the breakable crates better.
* A bomb exploding just as the round restarts no longer kills players at the start of the next round
* Grenades being thrown when the player dies no longer disappear
* Increased mp_limitteams bounds to 0-30, where 0 will disable this functionality
* Players' arms and hands can be hit by bullets now
* Target ID font is proportional, and it doesn't resize incorrectly after a resolution change
* Overviews don't show player locations when mp_fadetoblack is on
* Players with spaces in their names can be selected in the spectator GUI
* Observers can change their name at round restart
* Throwing a grenade right at round restart no longer results in holding a "ghost" grenade viewmodel at respawn

Source Engine

* Fixed a bug where snd_mixahead was not working properly. Should fix some sound popping problems for certain sound hardware when running at a low framerate
* Added support for a new surround sound buffering technique that streams six discrete channels instead of using DirectSound3D. Use snd_digital_surround in the console to enable this. This allows for support of Dolby Digital 5.1 on nForce2 hardware
* Allow mp3 playback at rates other than 44100Hz. This was requested by the MOD community

Master Server Query Protocol

* Added a challenge number to A2S_PLAYER and A2S_RULES server queries
* setting "sv_enableoldqueries" to 1 (default) allows old style (no challenge/response) queries to work. By default queries don't require a challenge number for clients on the same B class network, change "sv_allowlocalquery" to 0 to disable this functionality
* Changed A2S_INFO server query to require the string "Source Engine Query" appended to the end of the query packet.

Half_life 2: Deathmatch

* Fixed model exploit that would allow players to select an invalid player model
* Added weapon type to server log

Big Transformers Mod Update

The Transformers Mod has posted a big update on their website. They are showing off the new player models, a bunker, amd more. They are also looking for some beta testers.

Hello Transformers fans! Our team has been working really hard on the mod lately and we have got an exciting update for you. First of all, we have decided to do something a little different for our first release. Just for kicks we made the Transformers transform into Battlefield 1942 vehicles. Because we found it to be so much fun, and so we could get a release out sooner for everyone to play, we decided to use it in our first release.

RodFlanders modeled the player model you see below and it was skinned by yours truly (BumbleBee). The pictures on the left are the Autobot Assault class and the pictures on the right are the Decepticon Assault Class.

Below is a screenshot of our Bunker which was modeled by B.F. Be sure to check back next week as I plan to have it skinned by then.

We've started some online testing and we feel that it is time that we add a few beta testers to the team. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester for our mod swing by our forum to learn how.

One more note, we are trying to line up a few servers to run our mod whenever we release, so if you have a server and would like to help us out, please let us know.

Transformers Mod Update

Check out the latest news from the Transformers Mod.

Hello Transformers Fans! Today I'd like to show off Chewbode's ATV/DTV models, BF's Bunker, and RodFlanders Landmines. The first two images show the Autobot Transport Vehicle (ATV) and the Decepticon Transport Vehicle (DTV). This hovercraft can transport up to six players and works great at ramming enemy robots.

The next image is the interior of the Bunker. The bunker was modeled by BF and skinned by me (BumbleBee).

The last image shows off our landmines. RodFlanders modeled this sneaky yet powerful device. Landmines are a part of the Engineer class.

As many of you know, we officially started beta testing last Saturday. We had such a blast testing the mod and received so much helpful feedback that we've decided to open a few more spots for more beta testers. If you would like to join or testing team you can learn how by Clicking Here. All testers must be available to test some time between 9am - 3pm (US/Canada Central Time).
