Hello my name is Ben (aka BumbleBee) and creator of ResemblesReality.com. If you are wondering what ResemblesReality.com is, it's purpose, and what inspired me to create the site, this page should help answer those questions.

During a recent job interview the employer requested to see some examples of my SQL skills. Totally dumbfounded I realized, I didn't really have any. Here I had worked with databases for years, but I didn't have any "good" examples of my SQL knowledge. Afterwards I pondered ideas for projects to display my hidden knowledge. One night I was doing a web search for a tutorial on how to write a certain piece of code for Battlefield 1942 and I received 14,500,000 search results ranging anywhere from BF Goodwrench Tires to the Oklahoma State University Ecology department (that was a shocker) and that's not to count the numerous commercial website results. I was suddenly inspired to build a web directory containing ONLY GAMING CONTENT.

So, my first goal was to build the web site where I can categorize links (to game related websites) that I find to be helpful or fun. Of course I also wanted to be able to search the directory and even narrow the search to a particular game.

I also want this site to be available to the community so they too can benefit from the site and hopefully the community will contribute by submitting helpful links, ranking existing links, and reporting broken links.

I wanted this site to have a way for users to determine which links are the most useful. A quick easy way for users to just click a link and "bump" the sites score gets increased by one. Links with the highest scores are displayed first.

I wanted the site to be simple and easy to read without flashy graphics, banners, and pop-up adds. I wanted the site to be a resource for the community to use and benefit from, not corporations.

Think of ResemblesReality.com as a set of organized, searchable, online Bookmarks or (IE)Favorites shared by the gaming community. ResemblesReality.com is a community run gaming directory and an excellent resource for gamers, modders, and those who just want to learn more about the games we support.
